Deliwe

Age: 18
Grade in 2021: US 10th - Zimbabwe Form 4
Background:
Deliwe used to stay with her grandmother and she was the only relative she had and the church members knew. Nobody has a profound history of Deliwe’s parents or her relatives. When Deliwe was in grade 6 her granny got sick and sadly she died, that’s when she stopped going to school for she had to look after herself. Fortunately, a well-wisher who used to attend the same church with Deliwe’s grandmother took Deliwe and lived with her which allowed her to continue with her primary education. Sadly, the well-wisher did not have enough funds to send Deliwe for secondary education, so she dropped out just after finishing her grade seven (7). A village health worker brought her to MTC Educate A Girl Inc after hearing about the foundation’s good deeds.

Need: A bicycle! Deliwe walks over 8km one way to school every morning - rain, sunshine, or cold.

Tinotenda

Age: 18
Grade in 2022: US 10th - Zimbabwe Form 4
Background: When Tinotenda was in 3rd grade her mother got sick and became blind. Tinotenda dropped out of school to look after her mother. Her mother died 2 years later and her great-grandmother took her back to school but could not pay the total fees resulting in an accumulative accrual. A well wisher paid the school fees up to 7th grade. Sadly, the well wisher was unable to pay for secondary education. Then, MTC Foundation heard of the girl and she became the first beneficiary of MTC Foundation

Nancy and her stepmother sold firewood for a living, struggling up until Nancy finished her primary level. The firewood business could no longer pay for secondary education. An MTC field officer met Nancy selling firewood during school hours and heard her story. Nancy was adopted into the MTC family.
